The Outlaw Project centers the wisdom and experience of trans women of color to develop research and leadership programs that address the impacts of criminalization and incarceration. Their participatory action research examines the impacts of the prison industrial complex and disability on trans sex workers of color and offers community-based solutions that end the criminalization of sex work.

The Sex Worker Giving Circle (2018-2019 and 2020-2021) provided two-year grants to support their operations, including their goal to document the impact of the prison industrial complex on sex workers of color, from the perspective of trans sex workers of color as well as build the resilience and capacity of their organization so it can traverse the difficult years ahead.

The Sex Worker Giving Circle (2022-2023) is providing a two-year grant for direct support of sex workers who are transgender women of color, migrants, and community members with disabilities through providing mutual aid for food, court fees, local transportation for actions in their community space in Tucson.
