Charice Starr
Charice Starr, a.k.a Pumpkin (they/them) is a Black nonbinary southern creative and ranch hand. Charice enjoys being a multi-instrumentalist, poet, and artist. As a grandbaby of sharecroppers, educators, caregivers, and industrial workers that practiced grassroots philanthropy within their rural communities, Charice has continued their legacy as a co-founder of a mutual aid fund and an agrarian support collective. While a popular educator and organizer in Central Appalachia, Charice led fundraising campaigns for Black cultural spaces, along with co-facilitating Peoples Movement Assemblies for radical governance and strategy. They are currently immersed in a Southern Queer writers' group, while tending to relationships and skills in farm stewardship.
